Quail

Legacy Hunting's property is in its fourth year of intense quail management practices. The majority of the hunting will take place in young longleaf pine stands for that open broomstraw field feel. Don't think it's all open sightlines though as the routes through the loblolly pines are sure to be a challenge. Our birds have been released since the first week of October and are supplemented regularly with flight tested, weather conditioned birds.

A guide and trained dogs accompany each party. Hunters may bring their own dog(s) if they are controllable. Our normal hunting method includes a good amount of walking, however, we will gladly accomodate mobility impaired sportsmen using various methods and equipment. Please advise us when booking your hunt for a discussion on what will work best for your situation.

Saftey is always a concern so each party member is required to wear a hat and vest (or equivalent) of international (hunter) orange. Maximum number of guns shooting at any time is two. All guns are limited to 2 rounds. NO 12 Gauge or larger Shotguns allowed. We recommend a 20 gauge with improved cylinder choke. Observers/Non Hunters (up to the number of guns booked) are allowed, however, they will be required to remain with the wagon to observe from a distance as well as wear international orange. Please advise us when booking if any Non Hunters will attend.

Morning hunts are scheduled for 9 am to 12 noon, afternoon (temperatures permitting) from 2 pm to 5 pm. Hunt times vary from 2-3 hours.
